Modus ESI Workshop: An IT Crash Course for Legal Professionals
Tomorrow, I have the good fortune to be conducting the first – of what I hope will be many – Modus ESI Workshops for Legal Professionals. The program is a full day crash-course in the corporate IT systems and technology used to create, house, and manage the 99% of evidence that comes in electronic form. Joining me will be Andreas Mueller, who has 14 years of experience in electronic discovery and a talent for designing efficient solutions for complex discovery challenges.
During the program tomorrow, Andreas and I will take our students on a tour of the primary systems and applications found in the Fortune 500, explained from the perspective of what lawyers, paralegals, and other legal professionals need to know about these systems to conduct discovery in a reasonable, efficient, and defensible fashion. We will walk through computer networks, linger in e-mail, demystify SharePoint and ERP systems, shed light on cloud computing, and tackle Google Apps. Along the way we will touch on databases, data warehouses, Office 365, and dozens of other topics.
